Candy does not kill his dog because he raised it and cared for it, and loves it, it used to be a great dog.

Are Candy's feeling understandable? Have you ever felt very attached to an old or sick animal that had to be put to sleep(killed)? Explain your feelings.
I have never been attached to some animal that has died or had to be put to sleep.

Why does Candy say later on that he should have shot his dog himself and not let a stranger do it?
He realizes that he dog should have died with someone he knew and respected it, and not killed by some stranger that never loved it.

2.Why did Curley pick on Lennie?
Curley picks on Lennie because he gets pride and feels good from beating up people who are stonger and bigger than he is.

Describe Curley's main prblem in your opinion.
Curley's main problem is his ego, hew wants to have power and he is used to it, bes the masters son.

Why didn't Lennie fight back at first when Curley hit him? Lennie didn't fight back at first becasue he didn't want to do a bad thing and be yelled at by George.

What happened to Curley as a result of picking on Lennie?
Lennie completely crushed his hand and broke all the bones in his fingers, he forced Curley to seek medical attention immidiately.

Crook's says people at the ranch dont like him because?
He is old, cant do very much and he is next to useless because of his injury, he is also disliked because he is black.

Crook's invites Lennie to stay and talk with thim because?
Crooks gets very lonely almost no one ever talks to him, especially with white people, so he was glad for the company and having someone to talk to.

Animal imagery in Of Mice And Men

On page 3 its says "snorting into the water like a horse" this shows Lennie's strength as it refers to him as a big animal, it also reveals his animal instincts.
Also on page 3 is the passage "Lennie dabbed his big paw" this compares Lennie to a bear, the very image of that gives off strength and power which is exactly what is trying to be conveyed about Lennie. On page 5 "a mouse? a live mouse?" here the mouse symbolizes Lennie's freedom of choice, and this ability to do what he wants, whether good or bad. On page 10 is the quote "I wisht to get the rabbits soon" the rabbits are what Lennie wants and therefore symbolize his dreams and his aspirations, what he works for in life, his purpose. Page 11, "feeling on it like it was a mouse" this is comparing the dress of the girl in Weed to the mouse that Lennie had, it shows his lack of perception as well as the vast lack of logic that is the main difference between him and all other normal people. Page 16 holds the line "red, blue, and green rabbits" the different colored tabbits show how innocent and vulnerbale Lennie is and how he is easily susceptible. On page 20, "where a horse kicked him" for Crooks the animal symbolizes his captor and what made him the way hes is, what restricted his movement and made his life all the harder. Page 22 "he's as strong as a bull" George is referring to Lennies strength and comparing him to a bull which is a strong animal in everyones mind. Finally is page 35 " drowned four of em' right off" in this line Slim is talking about the dogs he just got and it shows how cruel the world can be and how to survive you must both have luck and skill.

On the Left here is Lennie from mice and men, or at least what i think he looks like. He is a slightly retarded farm hand who needs constant attention from his good friend George(picture under Lennie). This is a tragic tale of two people who are forced to make some bad decisions, thought they may be the best decisions they can make. Personally i think the movie is average, its alright but nothing special. I like the book because of all the description and detail that is poured into it. I don't like the book because not very much happens throughout the story, it is kind of slow and stays that way for a while. My favorites characters are Candy(last picture) and Crooks, they are really laid back and just chill, so i like them. The character that i really hate is Curley because he is out to hurt Lennie from the beginning. Thats whats happening with mice and men.
